Principal’s Welcome

The faculty and I feel so blessed to teach in a school with St. Cecilia’s distinctive spirit--a spirit inspired daily by our students’ love of learning and our solid Christian foundation.

St. Cecilia, we understand that education includes both the individual and the community.  We seek to nurture the curiosity, creativity, and love of learning of each of our students; at the same time, we work to build a close school community whose members are committed to the timeless and sustaining principles of integrity, mutual responsibility, empathy, compassion, service and faith in God.  St. Cecilia is therefore committed simultaneously to the “whole child” and the “whole community” and is concerned first and foremost with sending forth young people of noble character seeking to lead lives of honesty, substance, meaning, and contribution.

As a co-educational day school for children in pre-kindergarten through grade five, our mission statement is “Fostering the growth of lifelong learners who strive for academic excellence within a loving, Christian community.” This inspiring mission, combined with bright and engaging students, talented and dedicated faculty and staff, and caring and supportive parents are powerful forces that in turn create a brand of schooling that challenges us, nurtures us, and humbles us.

Our solid foundation is built upon teaching the six “Rs” on a daily basis.

• Religion
• Reading
• Writing
• Arithmetic
• Respect
• Responsibility

As Religion opens our hearts, we encourage each child to live the tenets of our faith in their words and in their actions.  This nurturing environment helps each child uncover his/her God-given talents, respect these gifts, and respect the talents of others within our school community.

Finally, we believe in nurturing each child to be loving, capable and fully involved as active participants in the learning process and to take responsibility for the consequences of one’s own actions.

We work as partners with our parents, the first teachers of their children.  Together we establish a safe environment for our children where we share the joy of their growth - body, mind and spirit.  We hope you will enjoy learning more about our community, our teachers, our students, and our spirit.

We hope you enjoy your visit with us.

Sincerely,

Joann Borchetta
